Genera is a privately-owned, family business which started as a small venture at Mount Maunganui (Port of Tauranga) New Zealand in 1972 and was officially incorporated as a registered limited liability company in 1975. To this day, the founders, Mark & Val Greenwood, their family and many long-serving personnel, still actively work for the Company, continuing along a road of ambition and dedication that has seen Genera grow into the capable and well-reputed organization we have today.

From humble beginnings Genera has accomplished many things since 1972.  Genera is MPI Accredited, a member of Pest Management Association of NZ (PMANZ), and New Zealand’s sole member of the International Maritime Fumigation Organisation (IMFO). We are experts in In-Transit bulk phosphine fumigation of grain and logs. Genera pioneered in-transit treatment for log vessels.

Our International head office is located at Mount Maunganui, and a regional operation here also serves the Port of Tauranga and wider Bay of Plenty/Waikato region.  Branch offices are also located at Marsden Point (Northport), Ports of Auckland, Wellington, Napier, Port Nelson, Christchurch and the South Island East Coast.

Genera is a principal shareholder in the BioVapor Heat Treatment System.

This facility at the Ports of Auckland can be used as an alternative to methyl bromide in a number of applications, providing chemical free biosecurity treatments.

Genera Limited serves all regional ports in New Zealand and provides fumigation and pest management solutions at any NZ on shore location.
